Who lives with Laura?

5 / 16

Hi! My name is Laura and I'm from Mexico. I'm Mexican and I live in a small but cozy house with my family. I have a younger brother, an older sister, and of course, my parents. My brother’s name is Tomás—he’s 10 and he’s always full of energy! My sister Camila is 17, and she’s super smart and loves reading. My mom is a teacher, and my dad is a mechanic. We’re a close family, and we enjoy spending time together.

During the week, I usually wake up at 6:30 in the morning. To be honest, I don’t like waking up early, but I have to because school starts at 8:00. I take a quick shower, brush my teeth, and eat some breakfast—usually toast, eggs, and sometimes a little fruit. I don’t drink coffee, but my parents do. My brother sometimes skips breakfast because he doesn't like eggs!

After breakfast, I go to school. I usually walk, because it’s not far. I finish school around 2 p.m., then I go home, have lunch, and do my homework. Sometimes, if I don’t have too much homework, I watch TV or listen to music. My sister doesn’t watch TV. She prefers reading or writing in her journal.

In the evening, we all eat dinner together. My mom cooks really well—her spaghetti is amazing! Sometimes we have some dessert, like cake or cookies, but if there aren’t any, we just have fruit. It’s always nice to talk with my family at dinner.

My favorite time of year is winter because we celebrate Christmas. We decorate the house and exchange some gifts, but no one expects expensive things. It’s more about being together. In autumn, we also celebrate Día de los Muertos, which is very special for us.

I also love spring because the weather is nicer and we go outside more. In summer, it’s really hot, so we try to go to the beach or visit our grandparents.

My uncle lives in Canada, so he only visits us once a year, usually in December. He’s Canadian, and we love it when he comes—he always brings chocolate!

I’m happy with my daily life. It’s simple, but I love my family and the little things we do together.
