No one to thank on this one. I did it all by myself—just a raw, pared-away performance.

Um, 35, 34… too many people to thank. Uh, you all know it takes a village, whether it’s on the small screen or the big screen.

I’m here on the backs of the talent of so many people through the years, maybe this one more than others because of Mike Marino, who designed the makeup, and his extraordinary makeup team.

All it took was 3 hours on the chair in the morning. I drank black coffee, listened to 80s music, and I became a canvas for that team’s brilliance.

Um, I’d like to thank Lauren LeFrank, Cristin Milioti—genius, thanks so much. Uh, the whole cast.

Casey Bloys and Sarah Aubrey, Matt Reeves—he’ll kill me if I don’t thank him. He created Gotham again, re-envisioned it for The Batman film. Thank you for employing me.

And, um, yeah, I guess it’s prosthetics from here on out.

Lauren LeFrank, our team showrunner, running her mouth off every day by the monitor—extraordinary. Her and her team of amazing writers.

My fellow nominees—Andrew, who I did my first film with 25–30 years ago. You can’t even find it on Betamax; it doesn’t exist, but we go back that far.

And all my fellow nominees—Ewan and Kevin and, uh, Richard. Wherever you are, Richard, man, you broke my heart with your work this year.

Thanks, everyone. Oh, Golden Globes, thanks as well. Yeah, whoever else I forgot, I do apologize. You know what you mean to me.

Oh, craft service! Our great Dame—yeah, yeah, yeah. No, no, no, no, no! Carolina!

Carolina, on those cold winter nights in New York, where I was the only one overheating, she’d be there with a coconut water every half an hour. Calling you, Carolina—God bless you.

She kept the whole crew going. She’s craft service. See you.

Eh, 35, 34… demasiadas personas a quienes agradecer.

Me gustaría agradecer a Lauren LeFrank, Cristin Milioti—unos genios, muchísimas gracias.

¡No, no, no, no, no! ¡Carolina!

Oh wow, um, I really wasn’t expecting that.
Um, I’m just in shock right now. Um, I’ve been doing this a long time, like over 45 years, and this is the first time I’ve ever won anything as an actor. Um, and I’m just so humbled and so grateful.

Um, 30 years ago, I had a producer tell me that, um, I was a popcorn actress, and at that time, I made that mean that this wasn’t something that I was allowed to have—that I could do movies that were successful, that made a lot of money, but that I couldn’t be acknowledged. And I bought in, and I believed that. And that corroded me over time to the point where I thought a few years ago that maybe this was it. Maybe I was complete. Maybe I had done what I was supposed to do.

And as I was kind of at a low point, I had this magical, bold, courageous, out-of-the-box, absolutely bonkers script come across my desk called The Substance, and the universe told me that you’re not done.

And I am so grateful to Corly for trusting me to step in and play this woman, for Margaret for being the other half of me that I couldn’t have done without, for looking out for me.

Um, to the people who’ve been with me for over 30 years—Kevin, Euan, Jason Weinberg, everybody at CAA, Untitled Lead—all of the people who’ve stood by me, especially the people who believed in me when I haven’t believed in myself.

And I’ll just leave you with one thing that I think this movie is imparting: in those moments when we don’t think we’re smart enough or pretty enough or skinny enough or successful enough or basically just not enough, I had a woman say to me, “Just know you will never be enough, but you can know the value of your worth if you just put down the measuring stick.”

And so today, I celebrate this as a marker of my wholeness and of the love that is driving me, and for the gift of doing something I love and being reminded that I do belong.

Thank you so much.

Traducción - Interpretación del discurso de Demi Moore

¡Oh, wow!

Muchas gracias.

Tens of millions of Americans are bracing for a huge winter storm that could bring the heaviest snowfall and coldest temperatures in over a decade. The storm, which started in the middle of the US, will move east in the next couple of days, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

A state of emergency has been declared in the states of Kentucky and Virginia, and parts of the US unaccustomed to severe cold, including Mississippi and Florida, have been warned to expect treacherous conditions. Forecasters say the extreme weather is being caused by the polar vortex, an area of cold air that circulates around the Arctic.

“For some, this could be the heaviest snowfall in over a decade,” the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said.

AccuWeather forecaster Dan DePodwin said: “This could lead to the coldest January for the US since 2011.”He added that “temperatures that are well below historical average” could linger for a week.

Those low temperatures will be on the east coast as well, where the storm is expected to reach by Sunday evening.

In the central US, there will be “considerable disruptions to daily life” and “dangerous or impossible driving conditions and widespread closures” into Sunday, according to the NWS. Some areas of Kansas and Indiana could see at least 8in (20.3cm) of snow.

In parts of the Midwest, blizzards are possible. “Whiteout conditions will make travel extremely hazardous, with impassable roads and a high risk of motorists becoming stranded,” the NWS warned.

Sleet and freezing rain is forecast for Missouri, Illinois, and swathes of Kentucky and West Virginia. As the storm moves east, millions more Americans will see record low temperatures, forecasters said.

Cities including Washington DC, Baltimore and Philadelphia are preparing for snowy and icy conditions from Sunday into Monday. Snowfall of between 5-12in could be recorded in parts of Virginia.
